Frequently asked questions

Straight answers.

What Nocturne 1.0 does, where it stops, and why accuracy wins over a darker screenshot.

Does Nocturne change my document or Drive files?

No. It changes browser presentation styles and does not edit, upload, rename or inspect file content.

Why is the document still light?

Original is the default because Docs paints text, colours and images into one canvas. This keeps the document exact while Nocturne darkens the surrounding workspace.

Can I make the page fully dark?

Yes. Choose Black for light text on a near-black page. Because Docs combines text and images in one canvas, Black can change embedded images; switch to Original whenever colour accuracy matters.

What stays free?

Basic Docs dark mode, Midnight and Graphite, Original, Dim and Black, privacy, proofing, print safety, system sync, shortcuts, per-document pause and compatibility fixes.

How do I enable Pro?

Open More options in the popup and enable the free Pro preview. It is device-local and requires no account or card.

What does Pro include now?

Google Drive coverage, Espresso, Warm Paper and OLED Black profiles, scheduling and Deep Focus.

Does it support Sheets or Slides?

Not in version 1.0. Those editors need separate renderers and regression suites.

Does it collect documents, files or analytics?

No file text, title, URL or identifier is transmitted to Nocturne, and the extension has no analytics SDK or outbound network implementation.

Is this made by Google?

No. Nocturne is independent and is not affiliated with or endorsed by Google LLC.
