Known Docs limitation: one canvas

Google Docs paints document text, custom colours, emoji and inserted images into shared canvas tiles. Original leaves that canvas untouched, and Dim lowers brightness without inversion. Black inverts the shared canvas, so embedded images can look different. Return to Original whenever colour accuracy matters.

Separate renderers

Docs and Drive do not share a blanket all-web filter. Each surface has its own activation and regression coverage. Drive styling is gated by the local Pro preview and uses stable semantic roles where possible; Google can still change its interface without notice.

Manual release gate

Before a store release, the authenticated checklist still covers Docs cold loads, real content, print/PDF comparison, Drive list and grid layouts, menus, keyboard-only use, high contrast, performance and extension-attributed network inspection.
