Extension data

Appearance settings—enabled state, palette, contrast and activation mode—are stored in chrome.storage.sync. Chrome may synchronize them under your Google account according to your browser settings.

A per-document pause requires recognising that document again. Nocturne salts and hashes the document identifier in your browser and stores only that hash and salt in chrome.storage.local. Aggregate active-day and Docs-session counters are also local; they contain no document title, URL, identifier or content.

Trial and licence data

The trial start date, paid entitlement expiry, licence key, random browser-instance identifier and last validation time are stored in chrome.storage.local. Licence activation and periodic validation send the licence key and browser-instance identifier to Nocturne’s website, which relays them to Polar. The response used by the extension is limited to licence status, expiry, product, variant and activation identifier.

No document text, title, URL, document identifier, file name, browsing history, appearance setting or usage counter is included in a licence request.

Permissions

storage saves the settings and licensing state described above. Narrow host access to docs.google.com/document/d/* and drive.google.com/drive/* covers the supported Workspace pages. Access to the Nocturne website domain is used only for the Pro licence endpoint and the user-opened product pages. Nocturne does not request activeTab, browsing-history access, Google Account scopes or Drive API access.

Payments and website

Paid checkout, tax handling, receipts, subscription management and the customer portal are provided by Polar as merchant of record under its own privacy terms. Nocturne’s website does not receive payment-card details and does not run advertising or behavioral analytics. The hosting provider may process routine request metadata needed to deliver and secure pages.

Problem reports

Reports are opt-in. The reporting guide asks for a blank reproduction and warns against including document titles, URLs, identifiers, text or unsanitized screenshots. No automatic diagnostic upload exists.
